Sam has been a member of the SolarCity policy team since July of 2015. He leads the company’s Community Relations program, which includes coalition building and partnerships with the rooftop solar industry. Prior to joining SolarCity, Sam served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Congressman Tony Cardenas (CA-29). Before joining the Congressman, Sam served in the Obama Administration as a political appointee in the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security and as Legislative Counsel to U.S. Senator Michael Bennet. Upon graduating from The George Washington University Law School, Sam worked as a Legislative Staff Attorney for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF). Sam currently serves as Co-Chair of the Community Engagement Committee for the Solar Energy Industries Association and as a board member for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights Los Angeles. Sam is based in Los Angeles and is licensed to practice law in California.
