Ken Maxey

External Affairs Director @ Comcast

A native of California, Mr. Maxey graduated from Notre Dame De Namur University with a B.A. in Political Science/History, MPA from Howard University and MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from the American University.

In addition to completing the Emerging Leader Program at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia; Ken’s international credits include a certificate in Arabic from American University in Beirut, Lebanon, and study abroad in English Literature at Oxford University, England.

Upon completion of his graduate degrees, Maxey has held leadership positions with key local and national organizations. These include: Deputy Political Director for the Democratic National Committee, GOTV Director for Obama for America in Polk County, Iowa, State Outreach Director for Phil Angelides for Governor and Grassroots Campaign Coordinator with John Kerry for President.

After extensive community organizing experience, Maxey has built public private partnerships as the External Affairs Director of Comcast through organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications, Spanish Speaking Citizens Foundation and the Oakland Jobs & Housing Coalition. In addition, to being a board member on several nonprofit boards, Maxey has exemplified his commitment and dedication to the next generation as a co-founder of New Leaders Council LA Chapter.

Throughout his career, Mr. Maxey has been committed to justice, equality and providing opportunity. As a result, he has been recognized by numerous organizations such as the Friends of South Asian American Communities, Indo American Community Foundation and the California NAACP Youth & College Division and in January 2016, Ken received the MLK Leadership Award from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of California (SCLC is the only national organization founded by Dr. King).
